Apply for a Turkey Visa Online as a US Citizen: Eligibility Requirements

If you’re traveling to Turkey, you’ll need to apply for a visa before making the trip. Luckily, if you’re a U.S. citizen, you can complete this process all online in less than 30 minutes! If you plan on staying in Turkey for less than 90 days and are traveling to visit friends or family, we recommend applying for an Official type of visa. If you plan on staying longer or are doing business of some kind while in Turkey, apply for the business/tourist type of visa instead.

What are the eligibility requirements?

There are three different ways in which you can apply for your Turkey visa online. Each of these methods has certain eligibility requirements, so it is important to make sure that you meet them before you begin filling out an application. For example, citizens of certain countries are ineligible to apply through one method because only citizens of other countries can do so. If any of these situations apply to you, you will need to look at all three options and choose whichever one gives you better access to your visa. When can you apply?

You can apply online at any time, but there are some deadlines to keep in mind. Non-US citizens need to apply at least 60 days before they arrive in Turkey Visa US Citizens only need to submit their application 15 days before they arrive in Turkey. Furthermore, your visa must be processed within two weeks of you filing your application and will take around five business days to process. To avoid overstaying your 90-day stay limit in Turkey, plan accordingly so that you have time to get your visa after arriving at Istanbul Ataturk Airport or another port of entry into Turkey.

How much does it cost?

The Turkey visa application fee is $20 and you can pay it online. If you’re over 65 or under 12, there is no fee required. For children ages 12-17, only one person in your family needs to pay; if you have any dependents (like parents or spouses) traveling with you, their fees are included in yours. Other criteria will be assessed by your Turkish consulate when applying for your visa; although information about those requirements isn’t available on their website, you can call them if you have specific questions about what documents might be required.

Where can you apply?

You can apply for your Turkey visa online by registering at www.evisa.gov.tr. You’ll need to have your passport and bank account details on hand in order to complete your application, but once registered you’ll be able to track its progress online via our website too. The process generally takes between two and four working days to complete, though it can sometimes take longer depending on how busy they are at any given time – be patient! If there are any problems with your application, our customer service team will contact you directly to resolve them.

Is there an emergency service available?

Primary applicants and dependents aged 18 or over are required to submit proof of sufficient funds, medical insurance coverage, and two passport photos. A photocopy of their valid passport is required. Non-immigrant visa applicants must be in possession of a valid passport (validity of at least six months from the date of arrival in Turkey), which must have at least one blank page. If your country has an agreement with Turkey for mutual recognition of visas, you can request your visa at any Turkish Embassy or Consulate located in your country of residence. Please note that consular service hours may vary according to each individual mission’s work schedule, so it is advisable to check before visiting your local consulate in order to avoid wasted travel time.

How long will the process take?

Turkey visa applications can be completed online and are typically processed within 24 hours. However, if you’re traveling during peak holiday seasons or have other complex travel needs, your case may take longer to process. If so, you’ll be notified via email. The embassy in Washington D.C can take 2–3 weeks to process a Turkey visa application. Note that even once an application has been approved, it will still take at least two weeks for your passport to be returned by mail.

Supporting Documents Required

A passport is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival in Turkey, with one passport-style photo, and an application fee of $20. The fee is non-refundable. An application form (which can be downloaded online) must be filled out legibly in black ink and have all necessary documents attached. When you apply online, you will not receive your visa until after it has been approved by Turkish immigration authorities, so if you plan to travel within a month or two of applying, you should use another service or send your application by mail instead.
