Iraq Citizen and South African Citizens Can Now Enter Turkey Without Visa

Turkey has introduced new visa exemptions for Iraq and South Africa nationals. The entry of both countries’ citizens to Turkey will now be “without a visa”, in contrast to the previous requirement of applying for a visa.

Iraqi citizens and South African citizens can now enter Turkey without visa. This is due to the recent signing of an agreement between the two countries. The agreement was signed by Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu and his South African counterpart, Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma. According to the agreement, both countries will share information on terrorist threats and co-operate on security issues.

Iraqi citizens can now enter Turkey without a visa and South African citizens can now obtain a visa on arrival at Turkish airports.

For Iraqi citizens, the new policy means that they no longer need to travel to Iraq’s neighbouring country, Jordan, to apply for a visa.

South African citizens will be able to travel to Turkey without a visa for up to 30 days in a 180-day period. After the first 30 days, South African citizens will be required to apply for a visa at a Turkish embassy or consulate.

Turkish nationals who hold an Iraqi passport or an international passport that is valid for at least six months after their date of entry into Turkey can also visit without a visa.

South African nationals are not eligible for this exemption.

The process of acquiring a Turkish visa

Iraq’s Ambassador to Ankara, Saad al-Hadithi, praised Turkey for its “positive role” in Iraq’s reconstruction process. He also said that the two countries were working to develop trade and economic ties.
