The most common way to apply for a New Zealand visa is through the online eVisa application service. This service is available at and requires only an email address and password. You will then be prompted to enter your personal information, including your passport number and date of birth.
After submitting your application, you will receive an email notification confirming that it has been received by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Mfat). If you do not receive an email notification within 24 hours, please check your spam folder. If still unable to find your application, please contact Mfat’s Visa Inquiry Centre on 0800 VISA (0800 823 867).
If you are travelling to New Zealand as part of a group or tour, you can also apply for a visa through the travel agent or tour operator you have booked with. These agencies will usually be able to process your visa application for you, provided that they have received advance approval from Mfat.
